Oculus refers to a viewing device. We envisioned this work as framing views of the sky, the sun, moon, and the landscape. Once the sculpture is oriented to the horizon, it can function as a calendar.

Before the sculpture was installed in its permanent home, we temporarily installed it in a hayfield facing East, to see how it looked during the sun and moonrise.
